HOW TO ADD ANNOTATIONS ON YOUR YOUTUBE VIDEOS

Annotating documents is so helpful for teachers, what more videos.  You no longer need to stop a video where you want to emphasize something to students or go in front of the screen and point out something important.  You may annotate your own videos right from your YouTube account page.
First up, click on MY CHANNEL.

Next, click on VIDEO MANAGER.

Choose the video you want to annotate and click on EDIT.

Then click on ANNOTATIONS and +ADD ANNOTATIONS and let's get started.

When you click on the drop down menu of +ADD ANNOTATIONS, you will get the following options.

The SPEECH BUBBLE is nice to use when there is someone talking on your video and you would like to add additional information.  The extended triangular portion of the rectangle may be moved from left to right depending on where you want to position it.

The NOTE option looks like a typical textbox. The right hand panel is where you personalize the message, font size and color, and a background color.

You may also add a TITLE throughout the entire video or just portions of it.  Same editing panel on the right hand side and if you look further down the editing options, you may specify the START and END times where you want your annotation to appear.
Furthermore, take a look at the black screen at the bottom, these are where your added annotations come out when you click on APPLY CHANGES.

The next type of annotation is called SPOTLIGHT as shown as a gray box below. You may put that in a portion of your video where you want to insert a link to a video or website.  You may also choose to have them OPEN LINK IN A NEW WINDOW so it does not interrupt the video watching.

These are the options you can LINK the SPOTLIGHT with.

The last kind of annotation you can make is called LABEL.  It's a nice single line that you may position below the other existing annotations you have made.  This makes me think of names of people who are in a video, subtitles/subheadings.  Love this one!
